Ponti designed this easy chair with slight variants for these ships.

Designed in 1953 the D.153.1 armchair is part of the furniture of Gio Pontis private house in via Dezza in Milan. This re-edition is produced by Molteni&C based on the original drawings from the ponti archives. Brass structure cover in bicolor white-blue leather or Punteggiato fabric designed by Ponti for Rubelli in 1934. The fabric reinterprets the age-old technique of velvet-weaving bringing it up to date with contemporary patterns such as close sequences of staggered disks with various gradations of colour. Exhibited at the Salone del Mobile 2012 the D.153.1 chair enriches the Gio Ponti furnishing Collection.
D.154.2 Armchair

The armchair on the other hand was designed for one of the projects closest to Gio Pontis heart the villa of the Planchart collectors in Caracas (1953-57). It is part of the Gio Ponti Collection which was curated by Molteni&C under the artistic direction of Studio Cerri & Associati. The architecture reflected the ideas he had gathered during his trips to Latin America in 1952-53. Today the armchair which is like a cosy shell has a rigid polyurethane frame a soft polyurethane counter-frame and a cushion and is upholstered in the Molteni&C textile range with the option of differentiating the three component parts. In 2016 this armchair won the prestigious Wallpaper Design Awards and became a Molteni&C icon.

A set of small round tables in which the presence of metal combined with other materials recalls the large metal greenhouses of the Victorian age present in the Kew Botanical Gardens. The apparently simple metal frame conceals small structural refinements such as the slightly inclined four-ray base that conceals the built-in feet. The central plinth into which the top is inserted is cone-shaped. The table top is thick and consists of two different materials.

Asterias a cactus that grows in the mountainous regions of Mexico lends its name to this new design from Patricia Urquiola. A generously-sized round table featuring a central base reminiscent of the cactus from which it takes its name. It consists of six curved wedge-shaped wooden panels applied protruding over the central plinth. The panels are 3D printed. The top (160 or 180 cm) features a rounded edge sub-divided in the wood version into four wedges that give rise to an interesting geometric pattern. Filigree is a range of fixed size and extension tables. Glossy and matt diecast aluminium frames underpin tops enhanced by a wide range of finishes. The technology used in the discreet Filigree main element allows an extendable table with an invisible lateral telescopic system. The entire top is without cuts and extends to double its size. It allows the maximum use of space thanks to the outer legs minimum thickness of the tops and above all its mechanism containment structure and extensions which are only 38 mm internal thickness.
