Made of real mica flakes. The sheets with the mica flakes are hand-dyed, after which large, irregular shapes are punched through them. These are carefully inlaid into a repetitive pattern. The pattern is a modern interpretation of the colourful, classic terrazzo floors.

Drift

Drift

Made from natural sisal fibres which are very finely woven. The woven sisal is then hand-pleated. Finally, we use the tipping technique, in which metallic ink is applied to the tips of the pleats. This yields a living, totally unique wallcovering, brimming with character.

Fringe

Fringe

arte-international > Wallcovering

An authentic double-weave jute. The jute strips are first dyed and then woven. This fabric is glued onto a shiny metal foil or a matt base, and then it is all cut into strips again. Finally, these strips are woven once again.

Twill

Twill

arte-international > Wallcovering

The basic material for this wallcovering is a tropical plant, the pandan. The fibres of this plant are interwoven by hand. This braiding is cut diagonally into strips, which are then woven. We drew the inspiration for this wallcovering from the growing trend of braiding in fashion and interior design.

Bandeau

Bandeau

arte-international > Wallcovering

Large sheets with mica flakes are hand-dyed for this pattern. Then rectangles are stamped out of them with the utmost care. These shapes are then glued by hand into the pattern, so that they impart a beautiful yet not too rigid effect.

Shimmer

Shimmer

arte-international > Wallcovering

This pattern consists, as it were, of woven mica. First, sheets are coloured with glued mica flakes. They are cut into very narrow strips, which are then woven with a conventional loom. The result is a wallcovering with the look of a very fine, gently glistening mosaic.

A silk imitation that is in perfect harmony with the other references. Featuring the irregularities of natural silk, with a thicker or rougher thread from time to time, and the full, intense colours of real silk. We intentionally chose a silk imitation, printed on non-woven fabric, as this is colourfast and far more durable.

Empire

Empire

arte-international > Wallcovering

The same ‘quillwork’ as pattern Civilia, however, this time with a clear pattern. Made exactly in the same way as the Paleo Indians did it, with stylised figures carved in wood, stone or bone. Excavations have taught us that they were mad about coloured materials, such as coral, turquoise and jade, shades that you will also find in this collection.

Civilia

Civilia

arte-international > Wallcovering

A unique design, based on ‘quillwork’, as virtually the oldest form of embroidery. Handiwork that was used exclusively by the native Americans to decorate clothes, jewellery and other utensils. Civilia is linear without being truly straight.

Strata

Strata

arte-international > Wallcovering

Strata refers to the many sedimentary rock layers that reveal their past thanks to what you find in them. Pieces of broken pot, fossils, minerals and crystals. Strata suggests all kinds of layers of earth, sometimes damp and shiny, sometimes dull and dry. Together these form a supple, moving wavy pattern. There are so many shades in this semi plain, which create movement and depth.

Gioco

Gioco

arte-international > Wallcovering

Aspero

Trapeze

Trapeze

arte-international > Wallcovering

Rectangles made from wood fragments, inlaid on metal foil. The foil emphasises the pattern and provides a sophisticated finish. Soft and subdued colours on the one hand and more intense shades on the other, but without compromising on the distinctively natural look & feel of the wood.

Grain

Grain

arte-international > Wallcovering

A collage of perfect squares. Combining wood fragments from different parts of the same tree provides a lovely combination of grains and recognisable knots. No two are the same, as they form a random pattern in the inlay.
