Designed in 1954 by the famous French Master glassmaker and decorator Max Ingrand, this lamp was originally named 1853 and, at a later time, Fontana, in homage to the company of which the Master was Artistic Director for a decade. For design enthusiasts and connoisseurs of the brand’s history, 1853 still remains as a sort of nickname. The first symbol of timeless object of design, still today best seller and evergreen design icon, Fontana is the abat-jour par excellence. The peculiarity of Fontana is its multiple light sources: both the base and the lampshade contain one or more. The larger version also allows indirect lighting, thanks to an additional source that projects a beam of indirect light upwards. The differentiated light sources make it possible to satisfy different lighting needs: from a soft, relaxing glow to a sharp beam for reading to suggestive ambient light. Available also with Led light sources. A fabulous lamp in frosted white blown glass, already riedited in a total black variant, it is now proposed in a colored and brand new version - light grey and purple amethyst - to reinforce the contemporaneity of the project. “Light and colour are centrainly the most specific elements in nature. With them we have RELIEF, MOTION, LIFE” stated Max Ingrand. “Actually the history of architecture tells us what was the role of illuminated, opaque, translucent colour in interior and exterior architecture (…)Light was no longer just a means to breathe life into colour but became a means to breathe life into an entire architecture.”

The FDC1 armchair is an exclusive and rare piece of furniture designed by artist Flavio de Carvalho in the 50s. This sculptural tribal lounge chair is one of designer’s masterpieces, deemed by Le Corbusier as a “romantic revolutionary”. Deemed by Le Corbusier as a "romantic revolutionary", Flávio de Carvalho was a man of many skills who got involved in an innovative and provocative way in many artistic fields and particularly in design and architecture areas. His concepts of design and architecture are moved principally by the imagination and correspond to the new forms of living and thinking. For this man recognized today as one of the Brazilian modern architecture precursors, interior design is as important as architecture. Within the framework of his main project, the Capuava ranch (1939), he designed most of its furniture, among them the famous FDC1 armchair created in the 50’s.The shape of this armchair is impressive by its graphic and sculptural aspects. Tribal mask or wink to sadomasochism, this noteworthy piece was at that time very avant-gardist and remains very modern.

Fris

Fris

marset > Wall lamp

Drawing thin beams of light in a space with each one of them pointing in any direction. This is why we have created Fris, a multi-purpose lighting system, available in a wall/ceiling or pendant version, which allows you to combine several units in different sizes and positions, each one aiming its own beam of light. Its design consists of a glass tube that encases the light. What makes it unique is that the glass not only protects the light, but also provides a mechanical function, suspending the whole system and allowing the lamp to rotate and the light to be steered in a certain direction. As a result, the glass is both material and function. Through the transparent glass we see the lamp’s interior, which consists of two profiles: one includes the light source and the other acts as a parabola, projecting a crisp, intense light. This system makes it possible to compose light structures and to join a set of lamps by means of different assembly and hanging accessories. They can also function separately as an individual lamp. The other version can be fixed to the ceiling or wall. The pendant version is available in three lengths of 80, 155 cm and 215 cm and the version for ceiling or wall comes in another three lenghts 80, 155 and 215 cm. There is also a more technical version where the light is distributed in cells with independent lenses, achieving a UGR of under 19. Fris offers a very versatile and functional design for precise lighting of any type of project. An ingenious system that boldly tackles a previously unresolved issue: to have a set of lamps where each one directs the light individually.

Lilla Åland is a true classic in the Stolab range and a favourite that has represented excellent Swedish 20th century design on many occasions. Carl Malmsten was inspired by a visit to the Finnström Church on Åland in 1938, which contained a number of stick-back chairs lined up. He drew them and after a few of his own adjustments and additions, typical of his own style, serial production at Stolab began. Today, the classic Windsor style chair is represented at the Röhsska Design Museum in Gothenburg. Lilla Åland stick blends beautifully into many different types of interior design styles and is very comfortable with its softly holed seat.

Brady "Dining"

Brady "Dining"

minotti > Table

A family of dining tables whose essential form is cleverly expressed in the harmonious dialogue between the veining of the marble tops and the rounded support holding them. The top surfaces, enriched by the natural streaks and enhanced by the power of the marble, lend a value of uniqueness to this family of tables. The rounded, lenticular-shaped support perfectly accommodates the top as if it were a stone set in a jewel: this special detail allows the marble to disappear with its mass, leaving its veining and natural design to stand out, with a different, unique effect in every piece.  Designed in the round version, or in the rectangular one with rounded corners, Brady makes a strong impression thanks to its cylindrical metal base in Bronze or Moka colour, becoming the centrepiece of the space.

Green Table Aldo Bakker, 2015

Green Table Aldo Bakker, 2015

karakterCopenhagen > Console

The Green Table depicts the simplest concept of a table: two legs and a surface. The legs are an elongation of the line created by the tabletop. The tabletop and the base of the legs have the same width, making them equally important to the design.Everlastingness. Bakker adds ‘everlastingness’ to the product by applying ‘Urushi’. A traditional Japanese lacquer made of tree sap. The varnish is naturally extracted from the Urushi tree. Urushi is applied for 30 or more layers of varnish and each layer must be allowed to dry in a warm, dust-free, humid environment. Lacquer applied too thickly or unevenly, or allowed to dry too quickly or slowly can ruin a piece. Each layer is polished by hand, a process that creates tiny, almost imperceptible variations in shade and colour and gives the surface its sense of depth and life. The natural one-component varnish becomes harder and harder over time. Keeping the core of the product intact for decades. Today there are 9000-year-old objects - still well preserved with Urushi. The technique demands slowness, awareness, time and attention. The Urushi series is Bakker’s peaceful protest against overspending. Conservation versus consumerism.

Ron Arad is one of the liveliest and most productive figures in contemporary designs. He contrasts polished, stylish commercial design with highly poetic objects with an archaic feel to them.<br/><br/>In the framework of the &#187;Vitra Edition&#171; he created the &#187;Well Tempered Chair&#171;. Its form is not the product of artificially shaping the sheet steel but is instead generated by screwing the tensile sheets into arches. Given its flexibility, the spring steel always bounces back into its original shape. The armchair is therefore not just a brilliant formal idea but also conveys a completely new feel for sitting.

Miniatures Marshmallow Sofa

George Nelson is one of the most influential personalities in U.S. design after 1945. As of 1946 he was for many years head of the Design Department at the Herman Miller company, on whose behalf he engaged designers hardly known at the time, such as Charles Eames , Isamu Noguchi, and Alexander Girard. And he was also inspired by other areas of culture: along with his work as an architect, he concerned himself with ongoing sociological and artistic themes.<br/><br/>Nelson's &#8221;Marshmallow&#8221;-sofa must be considered one of the earliest "Pop Art" furniture designs: the transformation of a traditional sofa into a threedimensional structure made of soft, colored cushioning. The seat and back are supported by a steel construction and the unit has the shape of an axially symmetrical folded-out waffle.
