Plaff-on!

marset > Ceiling lamp
The quality of a product’s design lies in whether or not it withstands the test of time. Plaff-on! has been illuminating indoor and outdoor ceilings and walls for more than a decade, and recently, thanks to a bollard version, gardens as well. A collection that is now expanding to include a new pendant version with a totally industrial vibe. Solid and compact, its 16-cm-wide structure, in black or rust brown, surrounds the glass diffuser.A design that combines simplicity and functionality and which in this new pendant version comes with a garland accessory allowing different lamps to be joined to a single point of light. Finally, a neoprene cable ensures waterproofing with no deterioration. The new Plaff-on! projects the light directly downwards. This highly effective collection continues to evolve and expand its applications, proving that a functional design is a lasting design.
Ihana

marset > Ceiling lamp
The serene shapes of the Ihana trace out a silhouette of light. This lighting system consists of several opal blown glass diffusers that are pleasing to the eye, appear ductile and contrast with the firmness of the metal structure that determines its shape and fastens it to the ceiling. In an effort to offer ambient light for any classic or contemporary interior design project, this collection can be used to create light compositions. This is made possible by its structure, which can be extended to include 14 diffusers, connected to a single point of light. It is available in different sizes to illuminate spaces with high ceilings as well. In addition, the Ihana features dim to warm technology, which allows not only regulating the intensity of the light, but also its colour temperature, which can vary from a warm white (3000K) to an ultra warm white, simulating candle light (1800K). Often, a design is born of necessity. Ihana, which means “exquisite” in Finnish, is one of them. Its creator, the architect Joanna Laajisto, moved her studio to a 19th century building in Helsinki and couldn’t find any lamps that fit in with her new office. In search of the beauty of light, she created a sculptural lamp defined by its pure, almost graphic forms, and by the balance between rigidity and fragility. Ihana is a synthesis of contrasts that combines contrasting colours, the black metallic structure and white diffusers, and nuances of old and new. A contemporary and timeless design made by its creator to endure over time and become part of those stories in which no one remembers what year it was designed.
Ginger

marset > Functional light
The Ginger collection is notable for its great simplicity of form, its lightweight appearance and reflected direct light. A design for any type of project. Available in two very different materials, wood or metal, it provides a warm glow with no glare, illuminating just the areas that need it.The ceiling model comes in four sizes that can be combined to form a two- or three-piece set connected to a single point of light. This ceiling lamp is sophisticated, almost sculptural, the most striking version in the whole collection because it reveals the hidden light source. The metal edition now evolves, and in a natural progression, appears in new colours: mauve, stone grey and sand. New discreet finishes that respect Ginger’s sobriety and add new nuances to its light. Furthermore, the colours can be combined, providing multiple reflections. An aesthetic, almost graphic design that is stunning in any of its finishes. With these two such diverse materials, wood and metal, Ginger becomes a versatile collection, so much so that it includes an outdoor version, coming full circle. There’s a Ginger for every lighting and aesthetic requirement.
Aura

marset > Wall lamp
A simple household item kickstarted the design process of the Aura wall lamp. This decorative lamp, which provides outstanding light while turn on but stands out beautifully while off as well, was inspired by the traditional glass carafe, a mainstay of households the world over. The Aura follows an emotional design, because of what glass means in the collective memory, as well as a rational and contemporary design because it draws on LED technology to achieve efficiency and subtlety. The opalescent, transparent, or coloured glass of its lampshade allows the light to bathe the wall and creates a luminous effect without harshness, while also generating a point of interest in the space. Aura comes in two sizes – 18 and 25 cm in diameter – to provide lighting solutions for smaller or larger spaces. This light and forceful wall lamp should be in ideal proportion to the interior that it has to illuminate, and the proportion always depends on the scale.
Ginger

marset > Wall lamp
The Ginger collection was born of wood, that great ally of cozy lighting. Sheets of wood, paper, and resins, compacted at high pressure, yielded a warm and intimate lamp. The Ginger’s sleek, understated appearance and robust reflected light made it an immediate favorite. This version of wall lamp, with a moveable swing-arm in black lacquered aluminum, allows the shade to be moved quickly and easily, resulting in a functional and aesthetically pleasing design intended for headboards, desks, reading nooks, or dining tables. This wall version features a movable structure that can be extended or retracted, allowing the point of light to be moved not only left and right, but also closer or further from the wall to which it is attached.

Lab

marset > Wall lamp
The classic Lab collection is expanding to include two sizes of bollard and a slim wall lamp. These new designs bring a bit of texture and formal simplicity to outdoor spaces. With this wall lamp version, an aluminium structure surrounding the fixture creates an interior space where light and materials interact, with the soft LED lighting playing off sheets of painted metal or dark iroko wood. The beauty of this collection lies in how the light interacts with the different materials. The Lab collection continues to conceal the point of light, but its illumination – in every version, including the original – will be more powerful, with a greater presence.

Peak Chair

occony > Chair
The Peak chair, which has been awarded the ARC 21 award, is a sustainable design chair by Joost van der Vecht. The name Peak is a reference to the mountain tops that are becoming increasingly barren be caused by climate change. The starting point was to design a durable, usable and elegant chair. The curved back and seat of the chair are made of waste paper, an essentially unusable – but clean – raw material that gets a second life and can be processed into a new chair in the future. The chair is available in a veneered, upholstered or hybrid (upholstered seat) version.
RAY hanging lamp

gispen > Ceiling lamp
RAY is a sunny pendant lamp made from thinly cut steel. The laser-cut shadow lines are bent into various shapes and sizes. Each different model will diffuse a different light pattern. The more closely the lines are clustered, the more the light will be focused on a central point.
James

minotti > Coffee table
The James coffee table stands out for its sculptural form: a monolith in Liquorice-lacquered ash or in mirror-finished polished steel. In the version with mirror finish, its eclectic identity makes it not only a multifunctional piece of furniture, but also an object/sculpture to be admired in the home environment. James not only has a strong aesthetic image of its own, but also the ability to conceal and transform itself in the living area thanks to its mirror finish. A coffee table/jewel that can be easily and interestingly combined with all the upholstered furniture and accessories of the various collections, adding a sparkle to the space like an unexpected point of light.
Miniatures Tulip Chair

vitra > Styling
The Tulip Chair is one of a series of chairs, stools, and tables developed by Eero Saarinen within a five-year period. The characteristic feature of the series is that the supporting structure has been pared to a central supporting stem »like a wineglass« in order to emphasise the uniformity of table and chair.

Eero Saarinen describes the Tulip Chair: »The bases of tables and chairs in a typical furniture arrangement create an ugly, confusing, and restless world. I wanted to design a chair as an integrated whole once again. All important furniture of the past always had a holistic structure, from King Tut's chair to that of Thomas Chippendale. Today, we are parting ways with this holism with our predilection for plastic and laminated wood shells. I am looking forward to the point when the plastics industry will be capable of manufacturing the chair using just one material, the way I have designed it.«
Miniatures MR 90 Barcelona

vitra > Styling
Mies van der Rohe designed the German pavilion and corresponding furniture for the 1929 world's fair in Barcelona. Among other things, his pavilion served as the setting for the inaugural ceremony led by the Spanish royal couple, Alfonso XIII and Victoria Eugenia. While Mies van der Rohe implemented his ideas of avant garde steel and glass architecture for the building design, he drew his inspiration for the furniture from historic models. Mies van der Rohe took as his starting point the ancient, scissors-shaped collapsible folding chair, already a symbol of power among Egyptian rulers. In keeping with the occasion, he adopted the representative qualities of the scissors chair, although he does without the folding function and interprets it afresh. In order to match the overall impression of luxury in the pavilion, Mies van der Rohe chose not to use wood like the historic models, but instead employed chrome-plated steel strip and leather upholstery with button stitching. The pavilion was torn down after the fair. However, along with the furniture, it was retrospectively acknowledged as a showcase for the »International Style« that had taken hold throughout the world. The Barcelona pavilion was reconstructed and rebuilt in 1986.

Chaise Tout Bois

vitra > Chair
Chaise Tout Bois is the only chair by the French 'constructeur' and designer Jean Prouvé that is made entirely out of wood. The design is very similar to Prouvé's famous Standard chair, but wood was substituted for the metal base due to the scarcity of metal during the Second World War. The form of the Chaise Tout Bois articulates Prouvé's intention to provide added strength at the transition point between the seat and backrest, where the load weight of the human anatomy is greatest. The profile of the rear frame section – back legs and backrest support – makes reference to this load transfer and is a typical characteristic of Prouvé's designs for both furniture and architecture.

Prouvé created several prototypes of this chair during the war for the purpose of testing its structural strength as well as the joints, leg position and connection between the seat and back. The chosen type of wood depended on what was available at the time. After the war, there was once again a sufficient supply of oak, which due to its hardness and strength was commonly used in France to construct ships and cathedral roofs. As these properties are also ideal for an all-wood chair, the Chaise Tout Bois was ultimately made out of oak and plywood – also offered in dark-stained versions when requested by Jean Prouvé's customers.

In 1947, Prouvé won an award for the Chaise Tout Bois in the 'Meubles de France' competition. The concept of the competition was to find attractive, high-quality, mass-produced furnishings to meet the post-war needs of society – particularly refugees and young married couples. Later the Chaise Tout Bois was replaced by a knock-down version in metal and wood, which was then supplanted by Model No. 305, likewise combining a metal base with a wooden seat and backrest – known today as the Standard chair.

Chaise Tout Bois by Vitra corresponds to one of Jean Prouvé's design variants from 1941, whose construction does not require a single screw. The height and seat geometry are the same as those of the Standard chair and thus meet current norms and requirements. The warm look and feel of wood contrasts appealingly with the practical structural design, which is typical of Prouvé's functional approach. Chaise Tout Bois is available in light oak or dark-stained oak.
Clover

kdln > Ceiling lamp
The open, enveloping, intriguing three-dimensional structure is reminiscent of the natural design of a clover. Almost a sculpture, with large dimensions yet extreme lightness. The light source, inserted in the meeting point of the three large petals, creates a play of light reflections on the internal surfaces.

West

minotti > Sofa
A faceting effect livens up and interrupts the cubism that sets the morphology of the West system apart from the clichés of modern design. Characterised by its suitability for use in a wide range of different contemporary and traditional arrangements, West also features glints of pure creativity, such as the chaise-longue, available in pentagonal or hexagonal form and the elements that stand out for their striking backrests in saddle hide, ergonomically shaped to rise and support the rear cushion. True elements of surprise, they break up the compositional layout, creating a stylistic point of interest, and interrupting the continuous effect of the fabric covering, visually lightening the volume at the rear. A solution designed to optimise both look and form, created with the know-how about design and the savoir-faire associated with fine tailoring that have always distinguished the Minotti brand. Every element of the system is made with exquisite goose down padding to ensure maximum comfort, features cushions finished with a piping that defines their profile and a distinctive aluminium strip, slightly rounded at the edges which skims the floor, in a brand new polished Brandy colour finish. West leaves plenty of room for interesting compositional possibilities: it enters a harmonious dialogue in terms of both colour and shape with the Amber coffee tables, is complemented by the Side coffee tables, with their frame in saddle hide that evokes that of the backrest and enhanced by the Clive consoles, which play around with surfaces, even setting one over another. The combination of the two looks of West, one with backrest in saddle hide and the other more conventional version with padded backrest and armrest - creates original arrangements and unusual textural and colour pairings, with saddle hide taking centre stage in a range of new, exclusive colours.
