Mauna

Mauna

arte-international > Wallcovering

Small pieces of rattan were carefully inlaid by hand into a playful, seemingly random pattern, after which a machine-made version of this artisanal artwork was produced. The alternation of straight and curved lines lends this design a natural look. Mauna is named after Mauna Kea, the highest mountain in Hawaii and a dormant volcano.

Ghicha Silk

Ghicha Silk

Pure Silk

Pure Silk

arte-international > Wallcovering

This 100% real silk uses warp and weft threads of different thicknesses. The resulting fabric has a distinctive texture because of the uneven puckers of the weft thread. Loved for their lightweight and lustrous appearance, Katia silk yarns are hand-spun, infusing each fibre with unique artistry and craftsmanship.

Katia Silk

Katia Silk

arte-international > Wallcovering

Katia Silk consists of a unique blend of 80% hand-spun Katia silk and 20% cotton. The spun Katia silk is harvested from the cocoons of a wild silk butterfly, after which the short, soft filaments are spun by hand into thick, irregular yarns. A harmonious blend with cotton yarns creates a captivating, contrasting matt-gloss effect. The irregularities in the threads lend this wallcovering a surprising texture and distinctive appearance.

Coccinella Bella

Coccinella Bella

arte-international > Wallcovering

The design is inspired by the unique flowers and plants that were deeply loved by the extinct Rationalis Decoris Coccinellidaeis. More commonly known as ‘Coccinella Bella’. These now-extinct lady bugs only emerged from their hidden habitats during the full moon, when their favourite stripy leaves and poppy-like flowers were bathed in a silver glow. Coccinella Bellas were the epitome of beauty, with their vibrant colours and intricate patterns. While they all sported the same colours, their patterns were as unique as the stars in the night sky. The Coccinella Bella wallcovering is digitally printed on soft touch textile.

Esparto Africano

Esparto Africano

arte-international > Wallcovering

Esparto is a strong fibre made from two species of perennial grasses of North Africa, Spain and Portugal. In woven form it is used for all kinds of crafts, to create both decorative and utilitarian objects. In this instance, it inspired a design in which the rigid shapes contrast beautifully with the randomly organised pattern.
