A French term derived from silk with a rippled or “watered” appearance, moiré is an optical effect that results in the illusion of waves or the movement of water. This effect is achieved by having an opaque, ruled pattern overlaid over another. Designer Christian Lava’s studies of this effect have led to his latest design aptly titled, Moiré. Using overlapping grids of metal, this LED pendant light dynamically changes shape following the viewer’s gaze, practically coming to life with a vibrating energy. For his work for Terzani, Nigel Coates, well known for his unorthodox approach to design, has created an engaging, unique light. Customizable groups of hand made crystal "angels” are illuminated by halogen or led lamps. What caused these angels to fall from the heavens? It’s up to the viewers to decide. Either way, Angel Falls is sure to garner attention, and generate conversation, in any setting. Design Nigel Coates. Made in Italy.

At Terzani, we spend countless days searching the globe for talented new designers, but sometimes they find us. Such is the case with the young designers Luca Martorano and Mattia Albicini (Draw studio) who approached us with the design for Calle, a fantastic new light we instantly fell in love with. It howcases our skill at crafting crystal to take the material to an exciting, modern place. Luca and Mattia worked with our raftsmen to create a slender inverted flute of crystal that, like the calla lily it mimics, can be grouped into stunning bouquets of light. Design Draw. Maranga is the name of a fruit, an imaginary fruit: exquisite, tempting, succulent. It reinterprets Scandinavian style in the essentiality of its shape and its rational use of lighting to generate a warm, comfortable atmosphere.The shade is made up of 32 slice-like pieces which fit together to allow chinks of light to escape. This interplay of light and dark generates an effect which is rich in shades of light and prevents glare, while an opening at the bottom fitted with a diffuser gives out direct light downwards.

The beauty of the Cala collection stems from its simple, synthetic, and essential form: a translucent shade that embraces the light to provide very warm illumination. Its purpose is to create a comfortable outdoor environment.Its structure is inspired by the classic painter’s easel, and its rotomolded polyethylene shade is surrounded by a zippered textilene cover that filters the light and gives it a rich, nuanced texture.
