Inspired by 1970s lines and designs, Brazilian Guilherme Torres presents a side table or coffee table of casual elegance. The metal-covered surface of the body also quotes futuristic designs of the era, but it is a clearly contemporary design. The glass or marble covered tabletop floats above a base with rounded edges. The table is available in five sizes. Combined in different heights, the tables can be arranged as a group with overlapping tabletops, resulting in a dynamic sculpture with a generous and multi-level storage surface.
Corker No.1 Marble

The silhouette of a champagne cork served as inspiration for Herzog [&] de Meuron’s design of the Corker furniture, which can be used as a stool or side table. The extension of the popular product family with a new version made of marble emphasises the monolithic character of the design even more: the object made of coloured natural stone looks like a sculpture in the room. Jacques Herzog says: “You could almost see the Corker as a Pop Art object because it emerged directly and without any significant reshaping from enlarging an object that exists in our everyday culture.” This furniture made of polished or matt marble is attractive not only as an aesthetic highlight but also a haptic one: the tactile qualities of natural stone invite you to touch the material – the cool, smooth surface forms a contrast to the warm, velvety cork of the original designs.

The Matéria Low Board series is characterised by its unusual dimensions and aura of tranquillity. When taking a closer look, however, its nearly monochromatic appearance is revealed as an interplay of the porous travertine stone and smoothly finished wood. Matéria evokes an intuitive urge to touch the surfaces, to feel the natural textures. Originally a purely experimental design by German designer Christian Haas, it was expanded into a trio in cooperation with ClassiCon. Matéria is available in three different sizes and currently two surfaces. Individually or in combination, the handcrafted low boards rightfully take centre stage due to their materiality and reveal the sensual effect of reductionism.
Folding Screen

The high-tech look that arose in the 1980s and which is still potentially current had an ingenious predecessor. Over half a century ago, Eileen Gray anticipated the cool industrial aesthetic of modern technology with the Folding Screen and her fluorescent lighting fixture Tube Light. Her softly curved, four-leaf folding screen with its perforated metal panels will also survive the stylistic trends of future decades undamaged. Indeed, there are forms upon which no one can improve.

Aixia was one of Eileen Gray‘s personal favourites. She used this chair in all of her apartments, sometimes in the dining room, sometimes at a desk. Even in 1929, when she converted a 40 m² apartment in Paris, Rue Chateaubriand, into an atelier of brilliant aesthetic and fascinating functionality for Jean Badovici, Aixia was among the furnishings. The chair is named after the company that produced the steel tubing for Eileen Gray‘s avant-garde designs.
