CITIES - Paper Photographic print by YellowKorner
Description
Tokyo VI is a paper photographic print.Although he is from the land of the rising sun, Masashi Wakui does not appear to witness this daily event! The night-owl photographer sublimates the Japanese capital after dark, when the stores have rolled down their doors, billboards glow on the façades of buildings, and traditional lanterns hanging at the entrances to restaurants have replaced the sun's rays. With a great deal of talent and finesse, each of the images taken in one of Tokyo's many neighbourhoods tells us a tale about a part of the city. From Shibuya to Itabashi, Machida to Nihonbashi, the saturated colours lend a highly cinematographic effect to the photographer's work, who brings his wide-angle lens on his urban explorations. The spectator thus discovers the more intimate, humane, dark but also authentic sides to the city.YellowKorner produces non-digital prints on Fuji DPII Gloss 250 photographic paper. It is a non-digital print covered by a layer of anti-reflective film that protects it from humidity and UV rays. These are prints of very high quality, whose finish, sharpness, and contrast are optimal both in colour and in black and white. Under the supervision of photographers, the prints are numbered and provided with a certificate of authenticity. With the photographer’s consent, a single photograph can be made available in one or more formats: 50 to 500 copies worldwide. Each format corresponds to a particular limitation, the bigger the format, the fewer copies there are.Available finishesMounting: mounting is a procedure use to provide a solid support for an Art photograph. This technique consists of gluing the print onto Dibond© (aluminium composite panel). This thin and light material is made of a layer of polyethylene sandwiched between two thin sheets of aluminium, making it stiff and light, with a total thickness of 2 mm (3 mm for the Prestige format). Since aluminium is a very light metal, this technique is particularly well suited to large formats.Gloss acrylic glass: acrylic glass is used to heighten the colours of the photograph. This technique consists of directly applying a gloss acrylic-glass plate onto the photograph after mounting, providing protection while accentuating the colours and therefore giving the print greater depth. The print adheres under the acrylic glass with a pH-neutral adhesive system that enables us to obtain an exceptionally durable finish, free of bubbles or cracks. This finish is ideal for colour prints that will be displayed in rooms without heavy exposure to light.Matte acrylic glass: matte acrylic glass is used to heighten contrasts. This technique consists of directly applying a matte acrylic glass plate onto a print after mounting, including a protective anti-reflective finish. The print adheres under the acrylic glass with a PH-neutral adhesive system that enables us to obtain an exceptionally durable finish, free of bubbles or cracks. This finish is ideal for the dark or black-and-white prints that will be displayed in rooms with exposure to strong light.Available framesAfter mounting, the print is then inserted into a 480 mm thick, solid wood, custom-built frame, assembled by hand. The space between the frame and the image produces a floating effect and throws the image into relief. On the sides of the frame, we find two notches allowing the work to be hung directly. At the centre of this frame, the certificate including a description of the artwork, the artist’s biography, and the number of the print is attached. This type of frame, known as a shadow-gap frame, leaves a 15 mm wide space with the artwork, thus providing an ethereal illusion of depth. The shadow-gap frame is available in six colours: Black Satin, White Satin, Oak, Walnut, Wenge, Graphite.
