We make our Glazed Square tiles by coating terracotta biscuits with a hand-mixed opaque glaze developed to match our colours. We use the waterfall method of glazing in which a stream of glaze falls onto the tile as it passes by below on a conveyor belt. The result is a gently undulating surface, and slight variation in depth of colour in parts. Please note that due to the nature of the making process, a repeat is sometimes created in the glaze, and we therefore recommend your tiler selects tiles at random when installing. Although the tiles are honed, dependent on the hardness of the stone quarried, the honing process can render the finish on the harder stone to have a slight sheen on the tiles. The thickness is normally 1cm thick, with a tolerance of 20%. There might also be some small chips and imperfections on the edges of the tiles.
