A seamless transparency is created, while embracing the die- cast aluminium rings, allowing the lamp to melt into the scenery. Part sculpture, part acoustic solution, and part light source, Isol can be used in a variety of combinations and in private and public environments as an aesthetic way of bringing acoustic properties into a space. Alone, it convinces through quiet authority offer- ing a sense of privacy. In multiples, its distinctive character is enhanced — in the suspension version furthermore by connect- ing the rings to extend lighting and noiseabsorbing power. Isol Floor and Isol Suspension comes in creme and black finish, both available in two heights.

Model 2042/9

With Le Sfere Plafone, Model 2042/9 from 1963, another of Gino Sarfatti’s beautiful interpretations of the luminous sphere is reintroduced. The refined ceiling light is composed of nine blown opaline glass spheres supported by a painted steel mount and structure with a Black or Champagne finish. Each sphere measures 20 cm in diameter and is gently held in place by the painted steel ring in a refined embrace that lends the luminaire a graphic expression and brings forth Le Sfere’s distinctive aesthetic.

Model 2050

With the re-edition of the iconic Model 2050 by Franco Albini and Franca Helg, Astep continues its work of rediscovery of great Italian masters of light while also pursuing the same pioneering spirit in materials research that animated Albini, Helg and Sarfatti. It does so by bringing environmental sensitivity into the equation through using Green Cast, a material that is 100% recycled and recyclable, patented and made in Italy, featuring identical properties of classic methacrylate. With its brushed finish, the Green Cast used for the new 2050 diffusor restores a timeless elegance.

Model 566

Designed in 1956, the Model 566 embodies Gino Sarfatti’s reductive process, resulting in a balanced elemental form. The luminaire stands poised, with implied forward motion, lightening the contrasting body tube which holds the characteristic Cornalux bulb. The body tube is cleverly supported by a simple rubber ring that provides the perfect amount of friction for infinite adjustability. The base, originally made of cast-iron, is now made from an alloy of aluminium, magnesium, and copper, which provides better resistance to corrosion, produces no air pollution during production, and is recyclable. Punctuating the design, a familiar push-button on/off switch is incorporated in the base, providing a satisfying click.

Model 2042/3

SB Cinquantotto

The SB Cinquantotto suspension light is available in two sizes. The original size with a diameter of 32 cm has a strong presence in the room and is a perfect companion for the dining table, while the smaller version, with a diameter of 20 cm, has a slightly more modest expression and volume but shares the same timeless qualities.

Model 537

In its refined simplicity, Model 537 stands out owing to the combination of rich materials and ingenious, playful design. The large aluminium reflector in black or white is mounted asymmetrically on a lacquered or brushed brass stem, which is carefully twisted in a beautiful balancing act, coming to rest on an elegant marble base. As a vital part of the design, the stem reaches out through the reflector and beyond in a backward motion, giving the top of the stem a dual function as playful feature and practical handle.

Model 237/2|Model 238/2

The two blown opaline glass spheres are gently held in place by two Black, or Champagne, painted steel rings. Each ring has a small cut, enabling the spheres to be placed facing downward or upward and thus providing a direct or indirect light composition. Model 237/2 features two 14cm diameter spheres, whereas the spheres of the model 238/1 are larger, measuring 20cm in diameter.

The single blown opaline glass sphere is gently held by a Black or Champagne painted steel ring. The steel ring has a small cut, enabling the sphere to be placed facing downward or upward and thus providing a direct or indirect light composition. Model 237/1 features single 14cm diameter sphere, whereas the sphere of the model 238/1 is larger, measuring 20cm in diameter.

Model 548

The table lamp designed in 1951 is a study in balance and light reflection through a screen, a recurring theme in Gino Sarfatti’s work. Model 548 provides both reflected and diffused light due to the adjustable spotlight that is directed up towards a reflecting screen. The large diffuser in orange, blue or white methacrylate provides a highly sophisticated light effect and is an essential part of the illusion and the play with perception. The spotlight in white painted aluminium is mounted on a tubular stem in polished or burnished brass, while a small brass bar at the base serves as a counterweight in the beautiful balancing act of the individual elements of Model 548. In the re-issue, the original incandescent bulb has been replaced by an LED source, and an optical dimmer switch has been integrated discreetly into the original design.

VV Cinquanta Twin

The VV Cinquanta features an elegant and versatile posable direct light source that can swivel and tilt. The Twin model is an elegant two-armed wall light. Mounted on a brass bracket, the two brass arms reach out in opposite directions. The wide signature reflectors can be angled and rotated to provide both indirect and direct lighting simultaneously. A sculptural wall lamp with multiple lighting compositions. The VV Cinquanta reflector is made of enameled spun aluminium, available in original Vittoriano Viganò colors.

Candela

Candela continues the long tradition of Scandinavian flame luminaries by advancing the product with 21st century technology. From the heat of the flame, Candela produces its own electricity to provide cosy LED illumination, while harvesting energy to charge mobile devices. Candela is powered by bioethanol, a renewable fuel made from plants.

Ublo

Conceived for The Office Group in London, Ublo references the iconic industrial surroundings bearing witness to modern times. Envisioned as a decorative element, at the same time functional and minimalist, Ublo embodies David Thulstrup’s impeccable visual language within interior design. The industrial inspiration is at the heart of the design with strong shapes and raw materiality that add a contemporary look to all spaces. The lamp carries an IP54 rating to offer a distinct design choice for bathrooms and other environments where water spray is a risk factor. Supporting Astep’s sustainability vision, the lamp is furthermore fully reparable and using replaceable G9 bulbs as light source.

Isol Suspension

Produced in Italy, the lamp is the result of high-precision work and technological advancement. The patented Snowsound Fiber textile lends the lamp outstanding sound-absorbing qualities and acoustic performance. The fabric is further completely recyclable while carrying a Greenguard Gold certification for being a low emitting product that contributes to improve indoor air quality. Part sculpture and part light source, Isol can be used in a variety of combinations and in private and public environments as an aesthetic way of bringing acoustic properties into a space. Alone, it convinces through quiet authority offering a sense of privacy. In multiples, its distinctive character is enhanced by connecting the rings to extend lighting and noise-absorbing power. A seamless flow of colour and texture is created, while embracing the die-cast aluminium rings. Its internal details are not directly visible from the outside which allows the lamp to melt into the scenery turning it into a performing and life enhancing piece of design.

Model 2109

The Le Sfere Chandelier is composed of a circular array of blown opaline glass spheres. Each sphere is held in place by a large Black or Champagne painted steel radial ring structure. The spheres can be oriented downward or upward to provide direct or indirect illumination. Model 2109/14/16 and model 2109/14/24 feature 14 cm blown opaline glass spheres in arrangements sixteen and twenty-four respectively, whereas the sixteen spheres of the Model 2109/20/16 are larger, measuring 20cm in diameter.

Model 2065

The Model 2065 is made of two joined opaline methacrylate saucer-shaped diffusers, suspended from a black painted aluminium ceiling canopy. The simplicity of the design and lightness of the materials makes for an elegant and free-floating luminaire. The newest version adds to these features in terms of sustainability: the diffusers are made of Green Cast®, a 100% recycled and recyclable PMMA (polymethyl methacrylate) — patented and made in Italy — that has exactly the same aesthetic and functional quality of original methacrylate.

Model 2065 Wall

The Model 2065 is made of two joined opaline methacrylate saucer-shaped diffusers, perched upon an elegantly curved wall-mount tube structure. The lamp comes in two versions: one intended for in-wall wiring, whereas the other is fitted with a cable and dimmer to be plugged into a standard wall socket. The diffusers are made of Green Cast®, a 100% recycled and recyclable PMMA (polymethyl methacrylate) — patented and made in Italy — that has exactly the same aesthetic and functional quality of original methacrylate.

VV Cinquanta Wall

The VV Cinquanta features an elegant and versatile posable direct light source that can swivel and tilt. The Wall model is mounted on a brass fixture, allowing the reflector to rotate 350 degrees, and can be angled 160 degrees, providing a wide range of lighting compositions. The VV Cinquanta reflector is made of enameled spun aluminium, available in original Vittoriano Viganò colors.

Nox

Distinctive to Nox is its wireless charging system with induction technology, enabling this sophisticated and highly versatile lamp to be used unplugged. The luminaire is composed of an aluminium body containing the charging system, a hand-blown opaline glass diffuser and a simple handle. Featuring a touch dimmer, Nox can provide ample light for reading and a cosy soft light when dimmed. Ideal as a bedside lamp, Nox can be picked up and carried to the balcony, and with its rich materials it also seems perfectly at home on the dinner table.

Model 1081

Model 1081 Floor is adding to the luxurious depth and versatility of Le Sfere collection. The strong visual presence of the floor light is a case study in balance. A single luminous sphere rests delicately on the black finish steel stem and base, serving as an ornamental structure. Alone the lamp stands as a solitary sculpture, in pairs a composition emitting a warm and diffused light. The floor light comes in two heights, 168 cm and 182 cm.

Model 1095

The floor lamp designed in 1968 is slender, graceful and intriguing in its disproportions between head and base. The design of the small reflective cup is strongly influenced by the new halogen light bulb, which Gino Sarfatti explored and celebrated in Model 1095 from both a functional and a dimensional perspective. Offering indirect light in a subtle design, the luminaire is made up of a tubular aluminium stem available in three different heights and painted slate grey. The small reflective cup with its thin shape is made of white-painted aluminium, and so is the base with the appealing soft shape and neat collar. In the re-issue, the base covers the electronic devices instead of a transformer, and besides LED lighting, the luminaire has also been upgraded with a liquid cooling system patented by Flos.

LT8

LT8 was conceived in 1954 for Borsani’s new bourn company Tecno, that would come to revolutionize the world of contract furniture, and presented at the X Triennale in Milan. In 1957 the design of LT8 was deposited by Tecno S.p.A. as an ornamental and utility model to the Patent Office. In Astep’s reedition the fluorescent tubes have been updated with an embedded dimmable LED module. The design is as flexible as it is beautiful. You can direct the light source in any angle and orient it to where you want against the wall. The lamp comes in two heights 2300-2900mm and 2900-3500mm to fit a wide range of spaces, public and private. Alone it stands as a sculpture, in pairs it becomes a landscape of light.

Sorpresa

Taking a traditional wool winder as inspiration, designer Samuel Wilkinson has created a new iconic chandelier, Sorpresa, that automatically opens out and expands in a single effortless gesture. The warm tone of the sanded oak structure elegantly complements the off-white transparent mesh of subtle horizontal patterns, defining the distinctive airiness of the lamp, soft and approachable. Sorpresa is made of recyclable or natural materials. Instead of an embedded LED solution Sorpresa uses a bulb as light source to support environmental responsibility at all levels of the design.

Model 262

Designed in Italy in 1971 reflecting the vision and mastery of Gino Sarfatti,  Model 262 as part of The Gino Sarfatti Collection. The iconic masterpiece is a tribute to modernist design expressing Sarfatti’s inventive search for using light in its most honest and essential way. The idea of the lamp is simply to give stage to the light bulb. Taking the presence and shape of a mirrored bulb as a starting point, the reflector elegantly supports, enhances, and gently diffuses the light source to achieve the best quality of light.

The VV Cinquanta Suspension is elegant and versatile with two posable direct light sources. With a distinctive dual-stemmed construction, it is a type of kinetic object constructed to take advantage of the principle of equilibrium. Therefore the central pole might find its equilibrium in a way which is not perpendicular to the ceiling. The fixture and the reflectors can be adjusted to many different positions, enabling a wide variety of both downward and upward lighting at the same time. The invitingly playful design encourages dynamic lighting compositions. The VV Cinquanta reflectors are made of enameled spun aluminium, available in original Vittoriano Viganò colors.

Pepa

Pepa was inspired by a small kitchen tool that can be found on tables in homes and restaurants all over the world: the pepper grinder. As you would hold and twist a pepper grinder to add pepper to a dish, Pepa is held and twisted to add light to your everywhere. With the warm and familiar feel of solid Ash wood, Pepa is a portable battery-powered luminaire that is inviting to touch and hold. The conical reflector of Pepa acts as a limitless 360º rotary dimmer, allowing smooth adjustment of light from full brightness to minimum, with a satisfying click when turned off.

Upglas is a story of transformation, where forgotten fragments of Murano glass are reimagined into sculptural light. Using a patented process by Rehub, leftover glass is ground into powder, combined with biodegradable resin, and shaped by hand like dough before being fired at low temperatures to reduce impact. The result is a smooth yet tactile surface, marbled with unique chromatic patterns that make every lamp one of a kind. Drawing on Murano’s legacy of glassmaking and Luca Nichetto’s passion for material experimentation, Upglas is both a visual statement and a sustainable innovation. This chest of five full-extension, self-closing drawers takes advantage of graduating sizes lending to varied storage options. The horizontal channel detailing between the drawers wraps around the end panels and is accented by the square ring-pull hardware.

FL/Y is an essentially-styled suspension lamp. The particular transparency of the material and the sheen of the colours recreate the idea of a soap bubble, shimmering iridiscently in the light. The shade is not perfectly hemispherical, with the cut-off falling just below the level of the diameter, offering greater concentration of the light. The lamp is available in three different sizes: Fl/Y (diameter 52cm, shade depth 33cm), Small Fl/Y (diameter 38cm, shade depth 28cm) and Big Fl/Y (diameter 83cm, shade depth 55cm).
