Novecento collection evokes part of Sicilian patterns designed by artisan masters from Caltagirone in the late ‘800. This collection would be a gratitude from Rosario Parrinello, arts master and founder of Made Mano, to his hometown. All patterns are handmade by handcrafted techniques designed by skilled painters who keep the centuries-old habits faithful. In addition to their beauty, their value is mainly based on the place of production, the city of Caltagirone, famous for over 3000 years for ceramic artifacts manufacturing.

CALLE HENZEL, Dosoledo Bastin Accretion (Raw Ice Cut Edit) (Palazzo 05), 2015 / 2025Edition of 30 + 1 APNumberedAccompanied by a Certificate of AuthenticityHand knotted rugWool, Silk, Mohair & LinenHigh / Low CutPalazzo reconsiders historical rug typologies as material for intervention rather than objects of preservation. Calle Henzel subjects classical patterning to cutting, sanding, washing, pigment application, and exposure to external conditions, transforming the rug from decorative support into a sculptural field.
Developed through experimentation with vintage carpets, the works were placed in northern outdoor environments where ice, frost, snow, and cycles of thaw acted directly on the fibers. Combined with paint, abrasion, and incision, these forces disrupted inherited visual systems and generated a vocabulary of fracture and deformation that informed a series of hand-knotted pieces. Some works incorporate Henzel’s Diamond Dust technique and Raw Ice Cut method within this broader inquiry.
The hand-knotted rugs retain the disruptions observed in the altered prototypes, resisting standardization through shifts in pile height, carving depth, and pigment saturation. Produced in editions, each piece diverges through the contingencies of making, foregrounding process over replication. Palazzo positions the rug as a spatial object with conceptual agency, operating between historical residue and contemporary material practice.

CALLE HENZEL, Vesterbro Oriole Dr, 2010 / 2019Edition of 99 + 1 APNumberedAccompanied by a Certificate of AuthenticityHand knotted rugWool, Linen, Mohair & SilkIn the Aura Patina collection, Calle Henzel revisits traditional patterns through a contemporary perspective, blending historical reference with present-day expression. Echoes of antique textiles are reshaped through abstraction, layered surfaces, and experimental color, connecting craftsmanship with the language of modern art. The work reflects an ongoing dialogue between preservation and reinvention, where inherited motifs are transformed into new visual narratives. Each piece suggests both age and immediacy, carrying traces of time while asserting a renewed identity. Through this approach, the rug becomes both material and idea, a meeting point where past and present coexist within contemporary design.

TOM OF FINLAND, Untitled, 1977Edition of 50NumberedAccompanied by a Certificate of AuthenticityHand tufted rugWoolView collection catalogTom of Finland (Touko Laaksonen, Finnish. 1920 – 1991) is widely regarded as one of the 20th century’s most influential artists for his revolutionary representation of the male figure. His drawings of fantastically muscled men engrossed in acts of homoerotic desire comprise one of the most inventive portrayals of the human body in modern times. These pictures of gay men as virile, confident, and unashamed—equally radical for their near-illicit, underground distribution—originated an empowering queer iconography and liberating spirit that has marked popular culture, art, fashion and human rights.Images: TOM OF FINLAND, Untitled, c.1969, Mixed media on paper.
