Gold Moon

Catellani & Smith > Ceiling lamp

Gold Moon is now also available in a bright wall or ceiling version, in addition to the pendant lamp. The new Gold Moon lamp is made up of six discs with an irregular surface, three with a diameter of 25 cm and three measuring 30 cm, embellished with the characteristic golden-coloured leaf coating. The dynamic arrangement of the discs, together with the golden-coloured finish, reflects the light provided by the small interchangeable LED elements concealed amid the copper curls, creating enchanting light and shadow effects on the wall.

For You

Catellani & Smith > Table lamp

As the name suggests, For You is a lamp designed to be given as a gift. Inspired by the lightness of a wildflower, it has a small brass base and a slender stem, covered in blue fabric, that is supposed to be shaped to your liking upon the lamp’s arrival, giving it a personal touch. The rice paper petals, easy to replace, house a dedicated LED board emitting a warm amber-coloured light. The lamp features an integrated push-dimmer, allowing you to adjust the desired amount of light.

Bellatrix, named after one of the brightest stars in the Orion constellation, is a wall lamp with a diameter of 120 cm featuring a handcrafted irregular surface expertly lined with gold coloured leaf. It is available in two versions: in the first, radial lines appear to be hand-drawn on the surface, while in the second, the design follows centrifugal curves. The Bellatrix disc is illuminated by 9 LED boards integrated into a 10 mm diameter brass rod, supported by a brass flex, allowing for adjustable lighting orientation. The interaction of light with the irregular golden surface and the indirect lighting effect, typical of Catellani & Smith’s production, ensures a luminous comfort that makes this lamp suitable for creating environments with captivating charm. The new Par 18 models by Catellani & Smith are characterized by irregular blown glass shades. This exclusive texture, created according to Catellani & Smith’s design by Bohemian master glassmakers and playfully resembling a golf ball, aims to maintain the transparency of the glass while generating a distinctive interaction of light with the uneven surface of the spheres. The Par 18 wall lamp is available in two finishes, white and black, both with brass elements. Thanks to the light emitted by a low-voltage COB LED, Par 18 creates diffused light, as well as a suggestive shadow pattern on the wall or ceiling, thanks to the irregular surface of the 16 cm glass sphere. The brass joint on the base allows a 350° rotation of the sphere on the horizontal axis and up to 90° on the vertical axis; the light beam can be adjusted in the desired direction and recreate suggestive light effects on the wall.

It can be made with spheres of the same diameter (8 cm or 16 cm), or by combining elements of both sizes; it can also be customized on request with bases of different sizes and finishes, with a variable number of elements and custom heights.

Gold Moon Chandelier brings a distinctive new twist to the traditional chandelier concept, turning it into a striking cascade of suspended light. It can be created in a variety of models, with different bases, finishes and numbers of elements, and is composed of a series of discs with irregular shapes, suspended from which are slender cables of different heights ending in beautiful copper curls cradling small LED lights. The internal surface of the discs, covered by hand in gold coloured leaf, engages with the light emitted by the LEDs, amplifying it and creating an alluring ambience.

“I was at the Frankfurt Trade Fair, presenting my new collection developed using LED circuits. I saw a Japanese lady pointing at my lamps and repeatedly saying “wa wa”. I went towards her and when I curiously asked her the reason, she told me “wa” meant “perfect”. I was touched and thanked her; I looked at the lamp, which was still nameless, and decided to call it “Wa Wa”.

Alchemie

The antithesis between light and dark, between Sun and Moon, is everlasting, like part of the same flow of existence. Many allegorical meanings have been given to the necessary relationship between two elements that each exist as a consequence of the other. The new lamp Alchemie T, designed by Giulia Archimede for Catellani & Smith, investigates this dimension whose components are diametrically opposed but always, and for ever, connected. Alchemie T is an exquisite sculpture composed of two discs: the former, made of alabaster and lit by LEDs, stays fixed, while the latter, made of brass, slides on a track-base made of Medea limestone just with a light touch of the hand. The interaction between light and shade reaches its peak the moment when the two discs overlap and almost mimic an eclipse.

Thanks to battery operation and the absence of cables, the new Giulietta BE can be ‘transported’ easily anywhere. With a simple touch of the hand, Giulietta BE can be switched on and set to three different light intensities. Giulietta BE consists of a thin rod – which originates from a circular base – and a circular disc surrounding the rod, apparently without any support. The disc concealing the light source is the distinctive feature of the lamp, which is part of the “Giulietta” collection.

When, in 1989, Enzo Catellani decided to found Catellani & Smith, he only considered the light bulb. “The lamp doesn’t make the light, the light bulb does. The bulb gives shape to that light” was something he said over and over again. Over these past thirty years, the light bulb has undergone various transformations, up to its latest evolution, the LED, whose enormous potential Enzo Catellani was immediately able to envision. New forms, unimaginable before, have been shaped by his creativity. This is how Trenta was born; a lamp that celebrates the light bulb, new technologies and the first thirty “light-years” of Catellani & Smith. Held lit in your hands, Trenta reveals its magical power. Just imagine, you can now bring light to places you were unable to before, screwed to its pedestal or simply set down where otherwise there would only be darkness. Trenta is here, in your home, waiting for you to remember her, and what she is capable of doing. In the meantime, she puts on a fine display. She knows she’s important. She knows she is a tribute to the shape of light. After being presented at Euroluce Lighting exhibition in April 2019, Trenta goes into production in a limited and numbered edition (500 pieces). This collection expands on its possibilities by proposing a change in the plane of light, from horizontal to vertical.This new style of lamp is available in two versions, both of which are pendant lamps. First there is the Ambrosia V, a 235-cm-high vertical structure consisting of two tubes of light of different lengths. An interrupted line of light, a detail that brings lightness and character to the lamp. Its design allows you to choose the lighting, either towards the wall for indirect light, or towards the main space for direct light. This aesthetic and functional design also works well in domestic settings. The other vertical version, Ambrosia V, joins three light tubes placed at different heights, forming a sculptural ensemble. This option can provide a great deal of light and therefore comes with a dimming system for easy lighting control. It is available in two heights of 130 and 175 cm. Both sizes can be electrically connected through the ceiling rosette or the floor plug. The new Ambrosia allows you to create vertical lighting compositions, combining different sizes in repetition to illuminate large spaces. When installed individually, it fills the space with light and warmth. Its slender design sets the perfect scene in any room. A totally new perspective for this flexible lighting system, which achieves maximum light expression with a minimalist structure. The metal structure is available in two finishes – black and matte gold – and the light source in three colour temperatures: 2200 K, 2700 K and 3000 K.          

Funiculí

For Lluís Porqueras, designing consisted of eliminating the superfluous until an essential object was left: beautiful, useful and simple. This was the case with the Funiculí, a 1979 lamp that Marset reissued in 2013 and which has become an emblem of the collection.Lightweight, it takes up almost no space and can function as an ambient lamp or for direct light, depending on how you direct the beam. Its designer released the shade to give maximum mobility. It can rotate through 360 degrees to focus the light where you want and also has a double clamp system for height adjustment. For the Funiculí, forty years are nothing; it has stood the test of time and now comes in new colours that further expand its possibilities. It is no longer only available in the neutrals moss grey, black and off-white. The new colours – green, terracotta and mustard – are intense. They are design statements, highlighting the shapes of the Funiculí and bringing chromaticism to the space. The new shades are cheerful and vivid, conveying that colour can also be essential.

Matin Floor Lamp

The Matin Floor Lamp offers a contemporary yet poetic design, with a construction that combines visual delicacy with physical robustness. The flat-packed design consists of a slender polished brass steel frame complemented with matte black hardware and zinc alloy joints at the base, which is paired with a pleated cotton shade in a variety of carefully selected colours. The light source is an integrated LED, offering a diffused light which is accompanied by a digital in-line dimmer floor switch to adjust the output of light if required.

Fienile outdoor

Fienile is also available in floor lamp versions for outdoor use, based on the same design inspired by the iconic rural buildings of Norway. Fienile Outdoor is a work of micro-architecture, with its walls and pitched roof extruded in a single, solid block of coated aluminium, while the diffuser is in polycarbonate. The outdoor version of Fienile comes in two heights, 32 or 72 cm, and two colors: pale and dark gray. Thanks to its essential design, Fienile Outdoor fits perfectly into the surrounding landscape and architectural context. The characteristic angled roof, besides being a clear reference to the archetypal form of the house, contributes to screen the light and spread it uniformly on the ground.
