Gold Moon

Catellani & Smith > Ceiling lamp

Gold Moon is now also available in a bright wall or ceiling version, in addition to the pendant lamp. The new Gold Moon lamp is made up of six discs with an irregular surface, three with a diameter of 25 cm and three measuring 30 cm, embellished with the characteristic golden-coloured leaf coating. The dynamic arrangement of the discs, together with the golden-coloured finish, reflects the light provided by the small interchangeable LED elements concealed amid the copper curls, creating enchanting light and shadow effects on the wall.

For You

Catellani & Smith > Table lamp

As the name suggests, For You is a lamp designed to be given as a gift. Inspired by the lightness of a wildflower, it has a small brass base and a slender stem, covered in blue fabric, that is supposed to be shaped to your liking upon the lamp’s arrival, giving it a personal touch. The rice paper petals, easy to replace, house a dedicated LED board emitting a warm amber-coloured light. The lamp features an integrated push-dimmer, allowing you to adjust the desired amount of light.

“I had the privilege to spend a period of my life in Japan. During that time, I took calligraphy classes, and it was life-changing. I still practice this art, trying to find essence of those slow, precise movements. For example, Ensō, the circle symbol of enlightenment and wholeness, has always fascinated me. Bellatrix

Bellatrix, named after one of the brightest stars in the Orion constellation, is a wall lamp with a diameter of 120 cm featuring a handcrafted irregular surface expertly lined with gold coloured leaf. It is available in two versions: in the first, radial lines appear to be hand-drawn on the surface, while in the second, the design follows centrifugal curves. The Bellatrix disc is illuminated by 9 LED boards integrated into a 10 mm diameter brass rod, supported by a brass flex, allowing for adjustable lighting orientation. The interaction of light with the irregular golden surface and the indirect lighting effect, typical of Catellani & Smith’s production, ensures a luminous comfort that makes this lamp suitable for creating environments with captivating charm. Par 18

The new Par 18 models by Catellani & Smith are characterized by irregular blown glass shades. This exclusive texture, created according to Catellani & Smith’s design by Bohemian master glassmakers and playfully resembling a golf ball, aims to maintain the transparency of the glass while generating a distinctive interaction of light with the uneven surface of the spheres. The Par 18 wall lamp is available in two finishes, white and black, both with brass elements. Thanks to the light emitted by a low-voltage COB LED, Par 18 creates diffused light, as well as a suggestive shadow pattern on the wall or ceiling, thanks to the irregular surface of the 16 cm glass sphere. The brass joint on the base allows a 350° rotation of the sphere on the horizontal axis and up to 90° on the vertical axis; the light beam can be adjusted in the desired direction and recreate suggestive light effects on the wall.

The Par 18 Chandelier is a creation that enriches Catellani & Smith’s range of low-voltage Chandeliers with interchangeable light sources. Thanks to the transparency of the glass and the thin cables that support the pendants, the Par 18 Chandelier stands out for the lightness and elegance of the entire composition, as well as for the unique lighting effect. It can be made with spheres of the same diameter (8 cm or 16 cm), or by combining elements of both sizes; it can also be customized on request with bases of different sizes and finishes, with a variable number of elements and custom heights.

Gold Moon JC/IC is a pendant lamp for plasterboard ceilings. It comes in two different models, and can be composed in a variety of patterns. A slender cable supports an irregular disc, crafted by hand and covered on the inside with gold coloured leaf. This glimmering coating engages with and amplifies the light emitted by a LED cradled within a copper curl.

Stchu-Moon separates the light source from the lighting object, which takes on its own aesthetic quality as a result. The light is refracted off deliberately irregular surfaces, which multiplies their quantity, making the entire object a glowing light.

CicloItalia is undergoing a new makeover to provide the inspiration for a new collection named CicloItalia Flex. The brass finish is replaced by a more contemporary version of the headlights – in black or white and with a more elongated shape – but returns in the flex and in the rims of the glass lenses.

More than a lamp: a sculpture in light. As its name suggests, the new Cono has an elegant tubular structure in a distinctive cone shape that is the hallmark feature of this stylish wall lamp. The finish of Cono is applied by hand, and combines a bright shade of blue – spread with irregular brushstrokes to bring a textured look to the outer surface of the lamp – with the beautiful gold leaf that covers the interior. Inspired by the famous Escher self-portrait, the new Sfera lamp by Catellani & Smith plays on the mirror surface effect, capturing the reflection of the observer. This spherical mirror reflects the setting it is placed in, with an illuminating effect even when switched off. Sfera can be used individually or in multiple compositions, to diversify the light effects created or to amplify the surprising interplay of reflected images. Today, that colour is back.” Also available in the classic black and white finishes, the “colourful” versions of the Ettorino lamps feature an elegant combination of primary colours, mixing blue, yellow and red. Preceded by the development of an innovative patented system, these new articulated lamps are characterised by a simple, rigorous design featuring surprising details. The signature feature of all the lamps is a functional detail in the shape of a red, dancing  figure. Ettorino BIG  is a large floor lamp designed for the lighting of a living room or a long table, thanks to a COB LED combined with a very wide optical lens that spreads the light evenly over the surface below. Gold Moon Chandelier brings a distinctive new twist to the traditional chandelier concept, turning it into a striking cascade of suspended light. It can be created in a variety of models, with different bases, finishes and numbers of elements, and is composed of a series of discs with irregular shapes, suspended from which are slender cables of different heights ending in beautiful copper curls cradling small LED lights. The internal surface of the discs, covered by hand in gold coloured leaf, engages with the light emitted by the LEDs, amplifying it and creating an alluring ambience.

Lederam embodies the accuracy of the motion required to draw a line. The warm, softly coloured disks surround a LED module with an ultra-flat shape, which creates thin lamps and suspended forms with curved, sinuous lines.

“I was at the Frankfurt Trade Fair, presenting my new collection developed using LED circuits. I saw a Japanese lady pointing at my lamps and repeatedly saying “wa wa”. I went towards her and when I curiously asked her the reason, she told me “wa” meant “perfect”. I was touched and thanked her; I looked at the lamp, which was still nameless, and decided to call it “Wa Wa”.

Luci d’Oro was developed after reflecting on the colour of light: the golden light of the sun and fire; warm light, in which the concept of refraction began to take shape in Enzo Catellani’s mind and which he used later in other creations.

EC 301 consists of a black-coloured base and structure with brass details. The LED light source shielded by a lens, has a swivel joint at the base which allows the lamp to be swivelled in different directions to design various luminous shapes.

Made entirely of natural brass, the sinuous Herem lamp comprises a rigid base and a flexible arm, which supports a thin oval plate that conceals a LED board with touchless dimmer.

Alchemie

The antithesis between light and dark, between Sun and Moon, is everlasting, like part of the same flow of existence. Many allegorical meanings have been given to the necessary relationship between two elements that each exist as a consequence of the other. The new lamp Alchemie T, designed by Giulia Archimede for Catellani & Smith, investigates this dimension whose components are diametrically opposed but always, and for ever, connected. Alchemie T is an exquisite sculpture composed of two discs: the former, made of alabaster and lit by LEDs, stays fixed, while the latter, made of brass, slides on a track-base made of Medea limestone just with a light touch of the hand. The interaction between light and shade reaches its peak the moment when the two discs overlap and almost mimic an eclipse.

With a simple touch of the hand, Giulietta BE can be switched on and set to three different light intensities. Giulietta BE consists of a thin rod – which originates from a circular base – and a circular disc surrounding the rod, apparently without any support. The disc concealing the light source is the distinctive feature of the lamp, which is part of the “Giulietta” collection.

Fil de Fer

Fil de Fer is a lighting fixture made of shaped, woven aluminium wire, which is lit on the inside by tiny bulbs. Designed and made by Enzo Catellani, it is the creation closest to his heart. Developed almost twenty years ago for a special commission, it was never used for that particular project and was hung up in his workshop. Each time it was switched on, it enchanted everyone with its special, magical atmosphere. Enzo Catellani decided then to continue working on it. The lamp was later placed on the market and quickly became the most iconic lighting fixture in the Catellani & Smith range.

FL/Y is an essentially-styled suspension lamp. The particular transparency of the material and the sheen of the colours recreate the idea of a soap bubble, shimmering iridiscently in the light. The shade is not perfectly hemispherical, with the cut-off falling just below the level of the diameter, offering greater concentration of the light. The lamp is available in three different sizes: Fl/Y (diameter 52cm, shade depth 33cm), Small Fl/Y (diameter 38cm, shade depth 28cm) and Big Fl/Y (diameter 83cm, shade depth 55cm).
