For the occasion, a new and elegant all-black version pays tribute to this object, internationally renowned as one of the icons of contemporary design. Michael Graves’ kettle is recognised all over the world as an icon of contemporary design, thanks to its mix of pop and postmodern styles. To mark the kettle’s 30th anniversary, Graves has redesigned the whistle, transforming the little bird into a fascinating mythological and futuristic creature: something in between a dragon and a flying dinosaur. The design of this kettle, created by Michael Graves in 1985, mixes the influences taken from European Art, American Pop and quotes from pre-Columbian cultures. Undisputed design icon for over forty years, the 9093 kettle celebrates the 250 years of USA Independence. The Michael Graves Design studio revisits it, taking inspiration from the Founding Fathers: the studs at the base give way to 13 stars for the original colonies, while the colors – blue, cream and brass – pay homage to George Washington's uniform. On the lid are engraved the dates 1776-2026 and the famous phrase of the Declaration of Independence: “Life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness”. An exclusive limited edition of only 499 pieces.
