Its diameter is then progressively narrowed to the size of a finger, which allows the piece to be welded to the rest of the object's body. This process is used to build most wind instruments. In Anastassiades's poetic eye, it gives shape to flower vases whose convex underside curves up into the shaft as an ulterior connection to the shape of the object by which it was inspired.
