TRAIL One Side Console

TRAIL One Side Console - Console by Alcarol

Alcarol > Console

alcarol has recovered logs from the undergrowth of the Italian Dolomites, selecting planks that still preserve their natural edges and native populations of moss and lichens: small, delicate organisms embedded in a transparent resin that recalls the water from which they once drew life. The Trail Console is crafted from a single plank, cut into three parts with a very fine blade and then reassembled so precisely that the woodgrain flows seamlessly across each plane. The vertical and horizontal segments are joined invisibly, so both the wood and the resin follow a continuous path, forming an object that appears to be a single, bent gesture. This sculptural movement evokes the natural growth of a tree: rising from the ground, reaching outward, and then returning to the earth: a silent path in wood and memory. Trail is not just a console, but a spatial walk through the forest, a tactile reminder of the vitality hidden beneath the canopy, and the timeless motion of nature shaping form.

Uranus Table

Uranus Table - Table by Alcarol

Alcarol > Table

The Uranus Table explores the boundary between perception and matter — a reflection on how light, wood, and the eye shape what we call reality. At first glance, its materials defy familiarity, as though drawn from another world. Yet the piece is wholly terrestrial: two mirrored Burled Poplar planks with live edges, encased and joined like fragments of floating terrain. They never touch, suspended in balance, upheld by four clear pillars that lift them in a seeming levity. The Burled Poplar bears a grain of swirling knots and eyes — natural complexity in deformation. Enhanced by a verdigris-infused oil finish, its inherent holographic depth is magnified, tinting the wood with subtle green radiance. Under shifting light, the surface glimmers with an otherworldly glow, transforming the material into something almost unrecognizable — neither fully wood nor alien, but something in between. Uranus Table is not a creation taken from space, but a terrestrial object inspired by a planet. It invites us to look deeper into our own world — to perceive the extraordinary hidden within the ordinary, to feel the mysterious green echo of Uranus in grain, light, and matter.

BENT One Side Console

BENT One Side Console - Console by Alcarol

Alcarol > Console

The Bent Console One Side is born from a single plank of Briccola oak, reclaimed from Venice’s lagoon. With a delicate cut, alcarol lets this plank rise vertically, bend into the horizontal, and then return to earth — mirroring the eternal cycle of water as it ascends, flows, and descends. The live edges, sculpted by salt, time, and lagoon molluscs, are preserved in all their irregular beauty, while the voids are filled with a transparent resin that echoes the water that once embraced the wood. This resin preserves air bubbles, light, and memory, creating a seamless continuity between the vertical and horizontal planes — as though the console were one continuous, fluid sculpture. In this way, the Bent Console becomes a frozen watercourse — a single, flowing form where wood becomes landscape, and the passage of time is held still. It is a fragment of submerged Venice, suspended between gravity and flow, turning natural forces into a serene, unbroken presence.

CHIMENTI RIVER Table

CHIMENTI RIVER Table - Table by Alcarol

Alcarol > Table

The Chimenti Table is born from planks of Venetian Bricole oak — ancient poles that have stood for decades in the Lagoon, their edges shaped by tides, carved by salt, and marked by the slow work of time and marine life. In the traditional language of Venetian shipwrights, chimenti are the narrow gaps between the hull planks of a vessel, once sealed by skilled caulkers with oakum and colofonia — a clear natural resin. Reinterpreting this ancient craft, alcarol fills only the empty spaces within the wood with a transparent resin that embodies the water it once lived in, preserving the traces of air and light suspended beneath the surface. Through this process, the table becomes a tangible section of the Venetian Lagoon — a vision of the underwater landscape made still, where motion turns to clarity and time seems to rest. The Chimenti Table is more than a functional object: it is a fragment of Venice itself, sculpted by water and history, now rendered eternal in its final, translucent layer — a dialogue between material, memory, and light.

MOSS Screen

MOSS Screen - Screens by Alcarol

Alcarol > Screens

The Moss Screen is crafted from walnut boards sourced in the Dolomite undergrowth, where fallen trees still carried their native mosses. By preserving these living traces in their vertical arrangement, the piece recalls a cross section of the forest. It invites a new way of seeing what usually escapes our gaze, revealing the quiet ecosystems that thrive in the shade, and transforming an unnoticed layer of nature into a presence that stands, breathes, and endures.

MAPLE REEF Console

MAPLE REEF Console - Console by Alcarol

Alcarol > Console

Crafted from rare maple burl recovered in the Dolomite undergrowth, this console reveals the hidden language of stress and survival. The swirling grain, eyes, and knots—born from time, fungus, and disruption—draw complex, organic patterns that no design could replicate. Encased in a translucent layer that evokes the still waters of its native forest, the wood becomes a suspended landscape. Its irregular contours and unpredictable forms suggest a coral reef, a microscopic world, or a topography yet to be discovered. A sculptural presence that invites open interpretation, where matter and imagination meet.

SURFACING STUMP

SURFACING STUMP - Stool by Alcarol

Alcarol > Stool

After the terrible flood of 2018, alcarol has recovered some discarded pieces of logs from the undergrowth of the Italian Dolomite mountains and has preserved the natural bark surface with their native populations of plants, which are embedded in a resin resembling the water that created and ended his life. All environmental traces on the raw material are thoroughly studied to discover and preserve the specific Genius Loci. According to the alcarol concept of environmental cross-section, the natural wood surface is not covered by resin on the section planes, so you can touch its warm organic vibrancy. The couple of twin pieces are obtained from the same Acacia trunk, rich in amazing roots.

BENT RIVER Console

BENT RIVER Console - Console by Alcarol

Alcarol > Console

The Bent River Console is born from a single plank of Venetian Briccola oak, carved and bent so fluidly that wood seems to flow like water. The plank rises, bends, and returns to earth, tracing a silent current that crosses space. Its natural edges — eroded by salt, tides, and time — remain intact, lending the piece an organic character. Where voids exist, a transparent resin fills them, mirroring the lagoon water that once caressed the wood. The resin captures suspended air bubbles and light, as though freezing the movement of a submerged river within the console. In its essence, the Bent River becomes a sculpted watercourse — a bridge between verticality and horizontality, between gravity and flow. It evokes a living river carved from a single wood flow, preserving a fragment of Venice’s underwater geography in stillness and light.

This piece is a walk trought the forest, it’s a path to immerse in the fresh sensations of the greenery that animate the woods.

MOSS Table - Single Plank

MOSS Table - Single Plank - Table by Alcarol

Alcarol > Table

The Moss Dining Table is made from a single wooden plank recovered from the undergrowth of the Italian Dolomites. Its natural live edges, still hosting native mosses, are preserved within a translucent layer that recalls the mountain waters from which they drew life. This limited-edition piece invites a sensorial journey. A forest path captured in form, where greenery, wood, and silence come together to evoke the freshness of alpine undergrowth.

BENT Console

BENT Console - Console by Alcarol

Alcarol > Console

The Bent Console is born from a single plank of Venetian Briccola oak, its form shaped by the currents, tides, and decades of lagoon life. The natural edges, sculpted by salt and molluscs, remain intact — a testimony to the slow dialogue between water and wood. Flanking the wood, two bands of transparent resin rise like twin rivers — echoing the water that once enveloped the plank, and now shielding it. These resin borders cradle the wood, sealing its history and preserving its integrity, while capturing bubbles, reflections, and the silent breath of the lagoon. The console becomes a living shoreline: wood shaped by submerged time, framed and guarded by resins that suggest fluidity even in stillness. The result is an object of silent tension — where the passage of water is both honored and held in quiet form. More than furniture, the Bent Console is a living fragment of Venice’s underwater realm — where water becomes structure, and structure recalls water. In the corners, the wood grain meets perfectly, as if bending in a single continuous gesture. Through a special process, even the resin becomes one uninterrupted piece, showing no visible separation between horizontal and vertical planes. This invisible corner joint, developed by alcarol, preserves the purity of form and fluidity of line, and is also suitable for benches, tables, and similar bespoke applications.

MAREALE Stool

MAREALE Stool - Stool by Alcarol

Alcarol > Stool

The Mareale Stool rises from a single disc of Venetian Briccola oak. Once submerged in lagoon currents, its edges worn by salt and molluscs — each contour a testament to time’s slow hands. Encircling this wooden heart, transparent resin bands flow like liquid water, protecting its jagged margins and preserving a singular moment carved by the tides. The resin captures light, air, and whispering reflections, as if sealing the breath of the lagoon into the stool’s skin. A metaphysical steel pillar supports this rotating core, granting the piece balance and elevation — as though the memory of water is held aloft in space. Mareale is not merely a stool: it is a crystallized tide, where wood, resin, and steel converge in a silent rotation, rendering eternal a fleeting whisper of Venice’s aquatic soul.

ANCHOR Stool

ANCHOR Stool - Stool by Alcarol

Alcarol > Stool

alcarol’s craft begins with sectioning — cutting through matter, time, and memory to reveal what lies beneath the surface. The very foundations of Venice rest upon thousands of oak poles, driven deep into the lagoon’s caranto layer, a compact bed of clay and sand. Immersed for decades, these timbers are slowly sculpted by Teredo Navalis, tiny marine organisms that trace delicate constellations of holes across the surface. Their patient work consumes the outer layers yet leaves the core untouched, creating a dialogue between erosion and endurance, fragility and strength. When replaced, these poles — vessels of salt, life, and history — are recovered and entrusted to alcarol. For the making of Anchor, the studio immersed itself in the waters of Venice, studying the silent world where these timbers were formed. The project captures the idea of a submerged cross-section — a fragment of the lagoon brought to light, preserving the quiet life beneath the surface. Through an intricate process, alcarol fills only the voids within the wood with transparency, trapping the breath of water and restoring the timber to its original vitality. Each section reveals the poetry of contrasts: air and depth, decay and resilience, motion and stillness. Through touch and sight, Anchor invites us to transcend the ordinary perception of place — to see Venice not as it appears above water, but as it endures below.

CHIMENTI Table

CHIMENTI Table - Table by Alcarol

Alcarol > Table

The Chimenti Table is made of three planks obtained from the Venetian Briccole poles preserving their natural live edges corroded by decades of salt water and sculpted by the lagoon molluscs. In Venetian seafaring language, the Chimenti are the gaps between the boards forming a ship’s planking, where the master caulkers stuff the gaps with oakum soaked in tar and colofonia, a transparent vegetable resin. Not unlike this ancient work, the manufacture of this table use an innovative resination process capable of filling only the empty spaces with a transparent resin capturing the underwater air bubbles that bring the wood back to the original look and conditions. alcarol achieves a new functionality with the poetic choice to bring the material beneath the water’s surface, freezing time at the end of its cycle and giving it a new life before it goes to waste, transforming the tabletop in a kind of subaqueous section of Venetian poles. The section planes – through touch, sight and olfaction – allow to transcend the ordinary perception of a place. As the first patented product, the Chimenti Table marks a crucial milestone: the transformation of submerged wood into enduring art.

BENT Bench

BENT Bench - Bench by Alcarol

Alcarol > Bench

The Bent Bench is born from a single plank of Venetian Briccola oak, its form gently rising, bending, and returning – an elegant gesture that spans space like a silent wave. The live edges, sculpted by salt and time, remain intact, while resin bands frame and protect the delicate margins, embracing the wood in a translucent sheath that echoes the lagoon’s flow. Through a refined process, wood grain meets seamlessly at corners, and resin flows uninterrupted with no visible seams, bestowing a purity of form. The bench becomes a continuous ribbon of memory and matter, where every curve is a whisper of water and wood in quiet conversation. This bench is more than seating: it is a passage between vertical and horizontal, a moment of Venice frozen in bending line. It invites touch, sight and stillness, as if holding space for the silent tides that shaped it.
