The 3107 has slim yet strong steel-tubed legs that complement the shell’s curved profile. Legs extend just beyond the edge of the seat, allowing chairs to be easily arranged in rows or stacked for storage. The base/legs are discreetly mounted to a circular disc beneath the seat further enhancing the clean, minimal aesthetic of Jacobsen’s design.

The 3101 model retains the sculptural simplicity of the original three-legged Ant design while expanding its distinct, expressive profile to suit a myriad of interior settings. Although the four-legged version of the Ant chair was occasionally produced during Jacobsen’s lifetime, it was only put into official production in 1971.

The celebrated chair comes in a range of models and can be customised with an almost endless variety of colours, wood types and upholstery. Wooden legs are angled smoothly outwards in this design, mimicking the steel legs of Jacobsen’s other plywood chairs. This is one of the few Arne Jacobsen chair designs with wooden legs. Remember that the Grand Prix chair with wooden legs is not stackable.

One of the most acclaimed design pieces in the world, the Proust armchair by Alessandro Mendini was launched in 1978, when it was used to furnish the Palazzo dei Diamanti, in Ferrara during an exhibition entitled “Incontri ravvicinati di architettura” (Close encounters of architecture). Shortly thereafter, the piece’s postmodern appeal captured the attention of connoisseurs and design insiders on an international scale. This new edition of the iconic armchair has the traditional hand-carved and hand-painted wood frame with a fixed cover made of multicolour fabric that echoes the frame decor.
