The Stump Stool – Chestnut is made from a discarded burled chestnut log, recovered from a wetland in the Dolomite foothills. Its bark still hosts native mosses and plants, now preserved beneath a transparent resin that evokes the still water from which they once drew life. By filling the log’s natural voids with resin, alcarol arrests the moment just before decay, turning what was nearly lost into something enduring. This piece holds the final breath of a tree, transformed into a silent presence — raw, resilient, and reimagined.

Karst landscapes are shaped not by force, but by dissolution. Over thousands of years, acidic water has sculpted the Dolomites’ soft stone into underground rivers, sinkholes, and hollow caverns — a geography of erosion, both seen and unseen. From this terrain, alcarol has recovered fragments of karst rock — their surface marked by time, mosses, lichens, and the patient work of flowing water. Each void and cavity, sculpted by nature’s slow gesture, is preserved in a clear resin that mimics the very element that shaped it. The Floating Karst Lamp is a metaphysical object: a fragment of territory carved by movement, now suspended in an instant of stillness. The stone hovers within light, its levitation made possible by absence — a void that becomes presence. Activated by touch, the integrated LED gently reveals the stone’s inner landscapes. Light filters through the water-like resin, illuminating erosion made eternal, and inviting the viewer to contemplate the paradox of impermanence captured and held. This is no mere lamp — it is a suspended moment of matter and time, where water, stone and light converge in quiet permanence.

alcarol recover discarded pieces of logs from the undergrowth of the Italian Dolomite mountains and preserve the natural bark surface with their native populations of plants, which are embedded in a resin resembling the water that generated their life. The design engages with the alcarol’s concept of environmental cross-section. By filling the gaps with resin, alcarol achieves a new functionality with the poetic choice to freeze time at the end of the material’s cycle and giving it a new life before it goes to waste. The section planes – through touch, sight and olfaction of different materials – allow to transcend the ordinary perception of a place .

Burano is an island in the Lagoon of Venice, famous for its lace. This plate is created with a slice of Bricola wood, the traditional timber pole planted in the Lagoon seabed, characterized by the tunnels carved by the molluscs that create a pattern of solids and voids, lights and shadows, like a lace. This wooden crochet is surrounded by a sheet of transparent aquamarine resin liven up by a constellation of underwater air bubbles that returns a fragment of submerged Venice.
