We pair these authentic shades with solid brass and wood components to create a refined, enduring design.  Namesake: In Japanese, Umi means the sea or ocean. She was the daughter of an Indian father and an American mother. Under the codename Madeleine, she was sent from the UK into occupied France to aid the French Resistance. Baker died in 1975 and received military honors and tributes from the entire artistic community in France.

Fiercely independent, Hetty worked alone from her modest desk in a Manhattan bank, value investing and making low-rate loans with her personal reserves of cash, helping bail out Wall Street, New York City, and the United States economy in times of need. While she was modest and unwilling to participate in New York City high society, those who knew her admired her warmth, wisdom, and wit.

In 1926, when Blanchet was widowed at the age of thirty-five, she packed her five young children into a twenty-five-foot boat and they cruised the ragged, wild, perforated coastline of British Columbia for fifteen consecutive summers.

FL/Y is an essentially-styled suspension lamp. The particular transparency of the material and the sheen of the colours recreate the idea of a soap bubble, shimmering iridiscently in the light. The shade is not perfectly hemispherical, with the cut-off falling just below the level of the diameter, offering greater concentration of the light.
